Google Power Meter, Is a project supported by the US government, actually it was based on president Obama’s first agenda topics before he became a president for the US.

The project aim is to build smart grids all over the US, they started with California, Texas, and some other states as well. The main reasons are:

1- Creating a new Energy Trend by using a clean Energy source for every house (like PV's or Photovoltaic) or by another renewable energy sources.
2- Cutting the high demand for Energy Consumptions
3- Reduce the cost of Energy Transmission which cost the government and also decrease the electromagnetic fields that accompany the High Voltage carriers.

4- Creating New Jobs for Green Energy industries i.e EV’s (Electrical Vehicles) etc.
5- Helping each house supported by this program to know and measure a real time data, what cause the high indoors consumptions.


6- Getting rid of the old machines that cause high energy at the home and replace them for free with new ones carrying an Energy Star labels.
7- Change the old grid systems that were built years ago with old technology, to be more living and measurable in order to getting accurate data about its performance, and power efficiency, thus it carry now the name Smart Grids.
8- Get accurate energy bills for the customers, instead of the old systems that cause wrong billing issues, due to the mentioned points.
9- Reduce the carbon footprint
10- Directing the citizen’s awareness for the energy demands to see a clear “what’s up” vision in their life styles without changing the lifestyle quality itself.


The matter is not about only saving, or green environment, but as a new life era!

The Idea can be done by yourself @ home, simply monitor your daily electrical index, and see what device you used that day that cause a major increase than usual, then you decide a better optimum device usage, or to change a part of that device, or change the device totally with an Energy Star labeled device,

i.e: Your Fridge is too old that consume so much power, you can only change the compressor with an "A" energy labeled compressor that suits that model (if applicable) !

Also most of us in hot summer days, we power the A/C units at 20 degrees , thinking that it will cool the space soon !! but the fact it will not ! simply because the ambient temperature is too hot that will cause the compressor to work continuously and will make you pay more !! but if you used it at 23-24 degree, the compressor will go on/off automatically thus saves your money and keeping your compressor life more !
